This week on our latest episode of Raising Thinkers, we have a runaway on our hands!

Benito, the craftiest little pony (el poni) at the rescue ranch, slipped through the back gate. This episode is designed specifically to practice tracking, counting sequences, and auditory discrimination, completely in their imagination!

What your child is practicing this week:

  1. Sensory Pattern Matching: We work on pattern recognition with a complex A-A-B-C sequence (Azul, Azul, Rojo, Verde). To solve it, they will map the rhythm to their bodies: double-tap left knee (Azul, Azul), clap hands (Rojo), and click tongue (Verde). This physical-to-auditory loop is a powerhouse for building working memory!
  2. The Royal Carrot Code: They’ll solve a growing numerical sequence (3, 6, 10, 15...) to open a treat box. Unlike simple skip-counting, this pattern grows by adding one more than the step before (+3, +4, +5). It’s a wonderful early bridge to algebraic thinking.
  3. Rhythmic Auditory Discrimination: We compare the beats of a trot (slow, steady) and a gallop (fast, double-beat) to follow Benito's easy-going path.

🍏 Tonight's Dinner Table Challenge: "The Story with a Hole"
Before we wrap up the episode, look forward to a classic riddle inspired by Nathan Levy's Stories with Holes (one of my favorite lateral thinking activities from my 3rd-grade teaching days!):

Benito the pony is standing in his pasture, tied to a five-meter rope. Ten meters away from him is a tree filled with sweet red apples. Benito walks right over to the tree and eats an apple. How did he do it?

Don't expect the answer today! Try discussing this at the dinner table tonight. I'll reveal the solution at the very beginning of Thursday’s episode!
