E65 Mascot Agility Dash
Guide 4 fan-favorite mascots through a halftime obstacle course with left/right directions, ten-frame scoreboards, and multi-step score addition!
When young children learn spatial terms like "left" (la izquierda) and "right" (la derecha) solely on paper, they often struggle with spatial orientation. However, when kids physically move their bodies across their midline while processing directions, spatial reasoning locks into place!
In Episode 65 of Raising Thinkers, we take our young listeners to el estadio for the Halftime Mascot Agility Dash!
How We Build Mathematical Abilities in this Episode:
- Cross-Lateral Movement: Kids practice high knee-drives to navigate Cappy the Capybara and Ruby the Red Panda left (la izquierda) and right (la derecha) through a tire grid.
- Ten-Frames & Differences: Listeners read Axel the Axolotl's and Rex the T-Rex's points displayed on the scoreboard in ten frames and calculate who earned more.
- Flexible Mental Decomposition: Kids track baseline scores and add dynamic finishing points using friendly benchmark numbers like 15 and 25 to see which mascot wins the trophy!
